Going Steady

Notice anything different? (hint: not my hair)

Ok, so there's the obvious: we've changed the layout (and it'll probably change quite a bit more over the next few days/weeks). The URL is different. We sank some serious money into buying a domain name, so you can now get here via www.kenyonstreetbrewery.com. Pretty awesome, huh?

It's not the only thing that we are being serious about. We're going to be more serious about brewing. We've set aside Wednesdays as brew days, where every Wednesday we will either brew, bottle, discuss homebrewing (recipes, techniques), or update this blog. So expect (nay, demand) more updates.

Almost a year ago (9/9/09) the three of us got together and brewed Brothel's Virgin IPA. In the last year, we have brewed 10 beers. That might not seem like too much, but consider that I've brewed 10 beers in the last year, and about 15 total in the 3 years before that. Furthermore, we've been more efficient, have tried new techniques and crazier recipes that actually work (although I do want to revisit the Pomegranate Fantasy), and we've done cool things like started kegging our beer.

These are the first signs of a renewed effort on all three of our parts to put more time and effort into brewing, with a path forward to a better beer experience. This doesn't just mean technically better beer (although that's always what we're going for) but we will also be entering competitions, creating a brand with a goal to get our beer into more people's hands (and mouths) and get some recognition.

So far, I (JJ), have been the only person writing on this blog. Geordie and Rick might post in the future, so you can get more rounded news, insights, and tastes.

Cheers!
JJ
